Sustainable Exploration of “Plug-In Design” in Public Space of the Old City in Guangzhou: Case Study on Xudi-Gaodijie

The current regeneration mode of public space in the old city Guangzhou is ineffective, thus necessitating supplementation with a more systematic methodology. “plug-in design” targets sustainable while preserving overall urban texture and context, i.e., it has little impact on spatial qualities city. ultimate goal to activate point area through insertion various plug-ins. In this study, methodology applied Xudi Gaodi Street, core Guangzhou, explore its effects sustainability. internal isolated supplied rigid flexible plug-ins from multiple dimensions, which not only improves environment but also injects new formats. This work provides specific solution for Guangzhou’s enhancing empirical knowledge plug-in design support theory further practical development.
